Michelle Schmude, EdD, invited to speak at Association of American Medical Colleges' (AAMC) Health Professions Financial Aid Administrators Conference

Scranton, PA (02/04/2022) — Three representatives of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine have been invited to speak at the 2022 Association of American Medical Colleges' (AAMC) Health Professions Financial Aid Administrators Conference.
Michelle M. Schmude, EdD, MBA, associate dean for admissions, enrollment management and financial aid and an associate professor of medical education, Department of Medical Education; Suzanne McNamara, director of financial aid; and Roxanne Seymour, MBA, associate director of financial aid, will deliver a session entitled, "Developing and Deploying a Comprehensive Financial Wellness Program for Medical Students using Active Learning Pedagogies" at the conference, scheduled to take place virtually February 23-25.
AAMC's Health Professions Financial Aid Administrators Conference brings financial aid and student records administrators from across the health professions together to learn about the latest professional trends and connects colleagues facing similar challenges and opportunities in financial aid and student records management.
During their session, Dr. Schmude, Ms. Seymour and Ms. McNamara will examine the various components of GCSOM's financial wellness program, including debt management and financial literacy and how the school has used active learning strategies to engage medical students. In addition, they will discuss the use of case-based learning, didactic sessions, independent learning, simulation, team-based learning, workshops, and reflection to effectively deliver a financial wellness program.
