Scranton, PA (09/21/2020) — Vicki T. The theme of the conference is "Mental Health & Wellness in Diverse Communities." Dr. Sapp's keynote session is the culminating activity for the conference. During her speech, Dr. Sapp will address how diversity impacts the mental health of college student populations and help attendees to recognize mental health distress characteristics in students. She will also discuss various factors that cause mental health distress for diverse populations, along with ways to personally and professionally mitigate mental health distress for diverse communities.
"I am honored to deliver the keynote address at MCC's conference," Dr. Sapp said. "Now more than ever educators should focus on the mental health and well-being of their students, particularly those students from diverse backgrounds. It is my hope that my talk inspires students to care for themselves and each other and to be aware of the signs when a colleague or friend is experiencing distress."
