Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine professor named Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine fellow

Dr. Jennifer Boardman named ELAM fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Scranton, PA (04/03/2019) — Jennifer M. Boardman, PhD, assistant dean for graduate academic affairs and associate professor, microbiology/immunology at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM) was named an Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Acceptance into ELAM is determined through an annual competitive selection process, in which approximately 54 candidates are chosen each year.

The ELAM program was specifically developed for senior women faculty at the associate or full professor level who demonstrate the greatest potential for assuming executive leadership positions in academic medicine within the next five years. It offers an intensive one-year fellowship of leadership training with extensive coaching, networking and mentoring opportunities aimed at expanding the national pool of qualified women candidates for leadership in academic medicine, dentistry, public health and pharmacy. Fellows undertake an Institutional Action Project meant to lead organizational change at their own institutions in regard to curriculum, career development, research or quality improvement.

The program is based at the Institute for Women's Health and Leadership at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
