Dr. Michelle Schmude invited to participate in Tour 4 Diversity panel

Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine associate dean will discuss recruitment, retention and graduation of diverse students interested in medicine

Scranton, PA (02/02/2021) — Michelle Schmude, EdD, Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine's associate dean for admissions, enrollment management and financial aid & associate professor, was invited to be part of a panel discussion for Tour 4 Diversity on Feb. 4.

Conceived by former medical student leaders, Tour 4 Diversity in Medicine (T4D) is a grassroots effort to educate, inspire, and cultivate future minority physicians and dentists. T4D seeks to address the shortage of minority providers by using the experiences and advising of current minority physicians, dentists, pharmacists, and medical students to help high school and undergraduate students along the educational pipeline to health professions school.

The panel will discuss the recruitment, retention and graduation of diverse students interested in medicine, dentistry, podiatric medicine, physician assistant studies and pharmacy. In addition, the panelists will share information about their institutions and engage in a question and answer session with the students.
